Calculating the number of concrete bags needed prevents costly overorders and mid-project shortages. Standard bag sizes are 40lb, 60lb, and 80lb. An 80lb bag yields approximately 0.022 cubic yards or 0.017 cubic meters of concrete.

For slabs 4 inches (10cm) thick, a 10x10 ft area needs roughly 1.23 cubic yards — that's about 56 bags of 80lb concrete. Always add 10% for waste.

For large pours over 1 cubic yard, consider ordering ready-mix concrete as it's more economical than bags.
