Fence post spacing is typically 6–8 feet (1.8–2.4m) for wood fences and up to 10 feet (3m) for chain link. Posts are set in concrete at a depth of 1/3 of the post height.
For a standard 6-foot fence, posts should be 9 feet long. Use 2 rails for fences up to 4 ft tall, 3 rails for taller fences.
